Hello All,
Gots another problem I am hoping you can help me with...

I have a weird problem with the car. About a week ago we started it up and it
would not idle. It would run fine above 2000 rpm's but then once they dropped
below that the engine would sputter and die. We managed to get where we were
going and then four days later the car started and idled fine. We drove it for
about 50 miles and then tried to restart it and it did the same thing No Go
Below 2000rpm's. What in the world could be causing this intermittent problem?
The weird thing is that it happened in two totally different situations.
Situation 1: Situation 2:
COLD night not so cold day
Cold car well warmed up engine
Both tanks about 1/2 empty just filled both tanks and added
bottles of carb cleaner to each.

Switching tanks does not help. If it was a partially clogged filter I would
think that it would idle fine but then be starved for fuel in the higher RPM's?

The carb is some kind of Holley four barrel with vacuum secondaries and
probably manual choke (its not hooked up). The carb is mounted on a Holley
'contender' manifold.
My guess is that maybe there is some gunk clogging the idle circuit or
something?? But then how would that fix itself after sitting for four days?
I'm stumped and absolutely need to get the car running by Wednesday.

        Thanks
                Daniel 69 2000
