Is it possible to acheive variable timing by adjusting an idler pulley on the
timing chain. Intead of having the slack on the back side of the chain, have
a set of rollers or gears that can be moved, or tuned through a motor turning
a worm screw that threads through a block, that will move the slack of the
chain, thus varying the cam timing. I thought about this months ago, but I
don't mave access to a machine shop to make the mechinism. Even if I did, I'm
not sure I would experiment on the U20. The taught side of the chain may have
too much pressure for this too work, or the mechanics involved may not be
adaptable to the engine.
