Brian,

  Several tricks I've learned over the years have worked for me. First the 
old get socket and breaker bar and brace it to floor or frame and turn the 
starter over(just blip it) enough to loosen big bolt. the other is a cold 
chisel and hammer/mallet. Once the bolt is loose you can coax the balancer 
off by prying with screwdriver or bar and mallet. Hope this helps.
