Jon,

About 2.5 years ago I bought a late 91 Miata w/42K and the C package, in
almost perfect condition for $5700.

90s and early 91s are the least desirable cars because of a crank problem
that rears its head after the timing belt is changed and the nut for the
crank isn't torqued down correctly. Although it doesn't affect all 90 Miatas
many of them did have to have their cranks replaced and Mazda did issue a
recall. In the later cars the crank nose was redesigned to eliminate the
problem.

The tranny linkage was also redesigned because the early cars had a notchy
shifter.

I think $5K is a fair price especially considering that it's a base model.

My car has pw, cc, speakers in the headrests, leather steering wheel and
LSD.

If you have any other Qs you can contact me off list.

Mike
