I have finished replacing timing gears/chains and it needed it. I am
now trying to rough-set the rebuilt non-smog distributor. Here is how I
understand it. With engine off and #1 cyl at TDC, the slot the dist.
drive fits into should be in 11:25 o'clock position. If I then rotate
engine to 12 degrees before TDC, points should be beginning to open,
giving me an advance of 16 degrees at 600 rpm. Is this correct?
The manual also states that there should be a restrictor in the oil
line to the dist. I can find nothing in the dist side of hose. How
critical is this. Am I looking in the right place?
