hello,

     If the shift lever moves you have most likely sheared one of the roll 
pins in one of the shift rods inside the trans. Or, come to think of it, the 
pin that holds the shift lever to the external shift rod may have come out. 
Pull off the shifter plate and look. (been there, done that)
