Group,

I thought it was common knowledge that NISSAN was used world wide and
that Datsun was only used in the US. The Japanese were new to the US
market so execs hired some Germans from VW to help with their
introduction. The Bug had been on US shores and had done very well.
The name was cute and the shape also fun. The introduction was going to
be in only 6 months and a brand name for the US was needed. When told
that they only had 6 months for the add campaign their reply was "DAT
SOON"? And as they say, the rest was history.

Dana :)
