Everything in my 70 1600 electrical system checks out fine except for the
!*!!#* reverse lamps, which aren't getting any juice. I've checked and
rechecked the wiring, bulbs and the fuse. There are two switches on the
tranny, one with black leads and one with white. They have different
connectors going into the wiring harness, so that has to be okay. However,
with the transmission in reverse, I connected a continuity tester to the
leads from both switches. The tester doesn't light up with either switch,
which means they aren't closing when the transmission is shifted into
reverse, which means bad switches, right? If so, how tough are they to
replace? (I'm assuming the tranny has to be drained first.)

Also, there is a switch with two black leads under the clutch pedal, which
activates just like the stop light switch under the brake pedal. I can't
find anything like it in the parts manual. What's the purpose of this gizmo
and does it have anything to do with the reverse lamps?
