Is this on the SOLEX fitted roadster?

The Solex cars do not have a provision for vacuum advance.
Usually the vacuum unit is just not connected. Nissan also
sold a "solid breaker plate" that would fit into the 
distributor.

For the SU engines I always recommend hooking up the
vacuum advance. Allows the engine to run more advance
at partial throttle, giving better gas mileage.
