There is also a rectangular box near the steering column with wires
connected to it.  This is a crude voltage regulator that controls the
fuel gage and the oil temperature sensor.  (It is a bimetallic device
that makes and breaks contact as it heats up and cools off due to the
current flowing through it.)  It may not be working properly or not
working at all.  I am fairly sure that it is available from some of the
suppliers that post to this list.
