Hello All:
I need some technical help which ofcourse eliminates Alan Bent from
answering. I've purchased every electrical component (coil, resistor,
plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, points) and am about to start
installing them in order to determine the bad component. Question: Could
the ignition switch be the bad component? It was replaced by the PO
several years ago. Is this correct: When the key is turned to the start
position, full power is delivered to the coil, distributor and engine.
The engine starts and the key is moved to the ON position. At this point
the resistor comes into play and allows a predetermined amount of
voltage to reach the coil and so on. Could the key switch be allowing
full voltage to continue to be sent directly to the coil? Before I
install the 4th new coil and a new resistor, I would like to eliminate
the ignition as a source of my sorrow. Any North American input is
appreciated.

P.S. The P.O. had someone butcher the wiring to the point that my copy
of the 68 wiring schematic is almost useless.
