To nice of a day yesterday to work on the roadster, went fishing
and was on the Chesapeake Bay by 0500. Battery powered running
lights worked great on my vintage 14 ft 1959 Aerocraft. Caught some
nice black sea bass, and then doing nothing more than fishing on the
bottom with a piece of squid, caught a 6LB Gray Trout. Wow!
Roadster content: The real reason for this is I just want to tell
everyone how happy I am last night, late, to finish the fiberglass
and filler phase of my roadster project, just got done blowing all
the dust out of the garage and am ready to start painting preps and
finish the mechanical work, much, much more enjoyable than grinding
filler.
Tip of the day: For those contemplating your own body work, the
absolutely most useful tool was the air powered reciprocating sander
(skinny and about 14 in long) these things are designed for this
purpose, and with 36 grit do a fast and excellent job exactly matching
the desired contours. On the roadster there are a lot of sexy, rounded
curves, and this thing was great. Got mine for 59.oo at Northern Tools,
and this very cheap one has lasted and worked well.
My 30 year old 1hp cast iron air compressor is about 5X too small to
run this tool, but with a 20gal tank I get about 10 minutes each charge, and
after that its time to evaluate where you are anyway.
Having a great weekend, and hope everyone else is to....
