I would disagree. If you do not need a choke when the car is cold, you are 
running too rich. Most Roadsters are set too rich, as this is the condition 
that naturally occurs with wear in the needles/nozzles. Just stick a finger 
in the tailpipe. If it comes out black, too much fuel.

 My guess is it is running too lean, you should not need to use a choke,
 especially in Phoenix! Most of the people I know with properly set carbs
 do not use the choke at all, many disconnect it.
