Howdy, All.

As some of you know, I have a '64 S1 Elan (Elan #3, for me) which is pretty
far
away from being a running car. It won't be on the road any time soon, either.
My plans for it are a bit too ambitious. Also it doesn't have a roadable weber
head (anyone want a Hart small valve head, that has been welded on a few
times?), it has a broken diff housing... etc. etc. Too many parts need to be
found, to make it into a driver on any kind of a reasonable schedule.

I've been driving a Miata for a few years, attempting to stave off the burning
desire to have an Elan on the road.

It isn't really working any more. My Elan lust is out of control.

This is a sickness, a vice, an addiction....

When Joe Dyer told us the condition of Kiyoshi's '65, just after Kiyoshi bagged
it....

> WHAT A FIND! It looks totally original. It has Series 1 rear round
> taillights, but a Series 2 badge. The Wood dash is nearly blemish free,
> the dash hood is without cracks, the seats are very good but will need a
> little sewing, even the steering wheel has its original shine, the top is
> like new with even perfectly clear rear plastic windows.

....I had to cross my legs, to hide an obvious bulge in my pants.

When Kiyoshi showed us pictures of this car, on his LA trip a couple months
ago, I turned green. Kiyoshi must have noticed my shock, when he told us
how much he paid for it... he had a somewhat apologetic look on his face,
after that.

Anyway, this post is more than just a foaming at the mouth Elan rave. The
point of all this, is that another S1.5 has come up for sale, and I'm having
difficulty resisting the urge to drive to Texas immediately, to buy it. This
was
posted on the Lotus-Cars list, and it is described at:
http://www.phoenix.net/~fredtal/forsale.html

Rod, talk me out of this, by offering your "extra" S1 (it's the Santa Cruz car,
right?) for sale.... ;-)

Seriously, what does anyone think about this Texas car? What would you
pay for it?

Regards,
Erik Berg
