@LURK_MODE = OFF

SOL Mates,

Yesterday Paul C. Zurkowski <pczurkow@cbda9.apgea.army.mil> asked about
his smoking Cooper S:

>I'm currently working a 1967 Mini Cooper S (Radford)...Once back together
>the white smoke screen behind the car continued for about 10-15 miles then
>stopped.

Been there, done that, figured it out!! If you have that crank case vent
diaphram on top of the inlet manifold that's the place to start looking.
If the thing doesn't work correctly it will allow oil to be sucked out
of the crank case from lifter cover plate. When the thing is smoking,
just pinch the hose and see if it stops. Open the lid on the diaphram
and see that the rubber is intact and the spring is working etc.
Especially see if there's ice or something blocking the seat.

P.S. I'd ask you if you wanted to join the M.I.N.I mail list, but it's
still broken. Once I get my hands on that %$^^*&(*( Sysop, I'll repost
the instructions to subscribe.

@LURK_MODE = ON
