I'll second that.  My father installed a tachometer so he could
get his YA to perform.  He had taken the engine to Stage II tune, and
the car would be at least drivable in Washington DC traffic.  He drove
it to work everyday for 3 or 4 years.  

One morning, he was turning 5000 rpm on Route 50 when a connecting rod
broke right underneath the piston, transforming it into a flail.  It
took out both sides of the engine block, mixing hot oil with
antifreeze to make a lot of smoke.  He got it safely to the shoulder.
He was surprised at how many people he worked with were on that
particular road that morning - they all stopped to check on him.
