Thanks to all who offered advice on my engine problem with my Hillman.
Since I'm new here, I had a few informational questions:
- My father and I have collected cars from the Rootes marque, primarily
Hillmans, for some time. Is there anyone else out there who is into these
beasts?
- As part of the aforementioned collection, we have a 1965 Superminx with a
factory fitted Perrkins Diesel engine. We believe it's one of a very few
manufactured, and may be an exceptionally rare running example. It has been
fully restored. Stories we've heard suggest that they were an attempt to break
into the taxi market, sold in foreign markets (Canada, Australia, and the
Middle East) where a diesel might be more practical (i.e. farming), and/or a
sort-of one-off market test. Any thoughts or first hand info?
