For those of you with 1500 Midgets and who live in even a warm area,
the following will really increase the life and relibility of your LCB.
Because of the design of the engine bay and the addition of the rubber
bumper the 1500 engine is not too happy here. As you know the 1500 is
from the Spitfire where the engine bay design and engine are in harmony.
However, the 1500 in the midget gets a much reduced air flow past
the motor and over the oil sump. Especially in warmer climates or if you
like to rev up the motor an oil cooler is MANDATORY. These motors are
prove to throwing rods through the block side and loosing the half circle
thrust bearings. An oil cooler will almost eliminate these lower end
problems.
A larger radiator and fan help too (keep the water : antifreeze ratio
as low as you can too).
So when the temps soar, you can cruze.....

Keep rockin'
Cheers Dennis

PS Other tricks include using exhaust wrap on the manifold (I would not do
this if you have the cat converter), using synthetic oil, keeping the
crud out of the radiator core.
Remember, a larger fan will sap some engine power.
