Hello, this is my first submission so please be gentle :>

My troubles are with a 1980 Spitfire 1500 w/od

While driving down a road here, I applied my clutch and brake to stop when the
car just died. It restarted and ran with no trouble but it would not take
off in ANY gear as fast as it used to before. My guess is the overdrive (which
previously was disconnected[electricaly] has suddenly found a way to engage)

The overdrive was inspected when I had the clutch changed. The mechanic (not a
specialist with LBCs) said the overdrive was " taped all up as if it were
broken." . He also explained about a bent metal arm on the OD that was
"bent to hell"

Any advice on what the problem is if it is not my OD and how to fix it?

ANy advice period???
