Which brings up the issue of "how the hell is an auto mechanical hobbieist
supposed to figure this stuff out?". My friend Doyle Skeels pointed out to
me that the best tool he ever had in this regard was... a mirror. He would
hook up both green wires to the lamps, put a big mirror behind the car,
then activate the controller switch (or hotwire the driving end of the
wire if the switch wasn't working, and look in the rear view. The mirror
in back would show him what light had lit, so he could then re-wire at the
dash for proper operation (or go back and swap terminations until it worked
right).
