Now that my TR6 is running smoothly, with no stumbles
or hesitation, I'm looking for ways to mess it up. Specifically
I'd like a moderate power boost. However, I'm not willing to
give up any of that nice low end torque that this engine provides.
While looking throught the Competition Manual (available from
TRF) I noted the dyno curves for a 10:1 compression head (mine
is currently 8.5:1). It looks to be about a 10% horsepower
boost through the entire rev range. This is exactly what I'm
looking for. Has anyone tried this? If so, can it run with
readily available gas? What changes need to be made to ignition
timing to prevent detonation? Any guesses as to its effect on longterm
durability? Inquiring minds want to know.
