Finally, the new issue of Road and Track has a preview article of the
new Lotus Elan. Besides the fact that it has FRONT-WHEEL-DRIVE, costs
more than $30,000 and has a Japanese engine, it looks nice. 8-|
(undecided smiley). As I have said before, what is a sports car nut
to do? The new Nissan 300 ZX Turbo weighs as much as a Lincoln
Continental, and the new Lotus is front-wheel-drive. Does this
crankiness about new cars mean that I am getting old??

I sympathize. I had the same "knee-jerk" reaction. And the damn thing
is so heavy!!! (2200lbs? Something like that - anyways a good 500 lbs
*TOO* heavy!). On the other hand, I haven't had a chance to drive it
yet...but I really am looking forward to the 4WD version with more
power...and dreading its price tag! Heavy Sigh.

                                        -RDH

P.S. By the by, I am not convinced that the Japanese engine is a
"bad thing", considering how well my 4.5Yr/60KMi Mirage Turbo
has held up (the only time it failed to start was when the
battery cable came loose from the battery...). I do like the
idea of the [English] Ford/Cosworth 200hp engine though, but
I suspect that GM would never allow that to happen...
