They also now run them as 15 amp splits, where the white goes to one side
(common) of the plug, The red and back go to the other  but first the tab
that connects the top and bottom is snipped, That way you have 2 separate 15
amp circuits on the same plug. Now you can run your taster and George Forman
on the same counter at the same time without "blowing a fuse". I believe the
Canadian code is for 4 of these splits in the kitchen. And if they are
within a certain distance of the sink they have to be GFI.
.... I'm not an electrician but I stayed at a holiday in express last
night...... LOL
