What should the oil pressure be? What should it be at freeway speeds?

a good rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm, 2000 rpm= 20 psi. This
is all the engine really needs. high volume and high pressure oil pumps are
needed in race engines that run extra wide clearance but only serve to heat
up the oil in street engines, not to mention the extra power it consumes to
pressurize this extra oil then send it out the bypass valve back to the pan.
