Hey gang.  For those living the IL, MI areas.  We have been invited to
join the Delorean clubs events.  Several sound like they'd be a lot of
fun.  I'd love to be able to go to some of them.  The following is a the

DeLorean Midwest Connection
Car Shows / Events 1999

The following calendar is a compilation of some car shows and 
gatherings that are scheduled for this year.  The highlighted events 
are considered to be club events and will include a DeLorean Midwest 
Connection club meeting.  Feel free to attend any or all of the 
listed events.

April 11                Spring Brunch   Indian Lakes Country Club       
                        Schick Road
                        Bloomingdale, IL

The annual Spring Brunch will be held in a private room and will 
include a huge brunch buffet with breakfast fare, salads, seafood, 
meats, fresh fruit, dessert bar, and complimentary champagne.  We
will show a video of rare footage of the original crash tests done
on DeLoreans.  $22.50 per person, children 3-12 years $12.00.

May 15          Spring Technical Session        Waubonsee / Aurora      

July 4          Fourth of July Parade   Northern suburb TBA     
                        and pot-luck picnic             

Join fellow members for a Fourth of July parade and picnic on Lake 
Michigan.  Call Gail Brandys or Linda Avellon for more information or 
to coordinate a dish to bring.  Please call by July 1st if you would 
like to attend.

July 25         Frankfort Car Show      Frankfort, IL   

The Frankfort Car Club is sponsoring the 18th annual Car Show and Swap 
Meet in lovely historic downtown Frankfort.  The cars are nestled in 
amongst turn of the century architecture, antique stores, German Beer 
Gardens, and other attractions.  This is one of the nicer shows in the 
Chicagoland area.

August 1                Illinois Railway Museum Union, IL       
                        Transport Extravaganza          

The Illinois Railway Museum is hosting its 8th Annual Vintage Transport 
Extravaganza.   Each carload gets free admission to the museum and 
includes free rides on the steam trains, electric streetcars, and 
diesel trains.  Many restored engines and coaches are also on display.  
Food and beverages are available.  Picnic lunches are allowed. Over 500 
vehicles participate.  There is no judging. 

August 15               Orphan Car Show Aurora, IL      

The Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts is hosting its annual Orphan Car 
Show in a lovely wooded area along the scenic Fox River.  There are no 
fees, no judging, games for the kids, and lots of rare and unusual 
orphan autos. Lots of cool items are raffled off.  Beverages provided, 
bring your own meat to grill and other munchies. 

* Orphan cars are those marques that are no longer in production.

September12             British Car Show        Oakton Community College
                        Des Plaines, IL

The British Car Union is hosting their 13th Annual British Car Festival 
at Oakton Community College.  Activities include a swap meet, peoples 
choice awards and DeLorean Concours judging.  British and American food 
is available.  Many prizes are given away to pre-registrants. 

September ??    Fall Technical Session  TBA     

October 9-11    DeLorean Nationals      St. Louis, MO

The DeLorean Midwest Connection will host a dinner on October 9th in 
St. Louis for our local members and our friends from the Ohio and Iowa 
clubs ! 

December 4              Holiday Dinner  TBA     


LOCAL CRUISE NIGHTS

Treat your car to an attention-getting evening at a local Cruise Night. 
 
A list of local cruise nights that are being held this season will be
available by calling Gail Brandys (630) 325-2083 for more information.

Job Description of the Social Directors

Coordinate the scheduling of club social events with the Director of Marque
and the Club Board Members for publication in the club newsletters.  Serve
as a liaison to club members who are interested in participating in social
events by providing information on specific events.
