The permissibility of any crack is conversely proportional to the cost of a
new windscreen. The more expensive the glass, the smaller the maximum
permissible crack.

I believe it is no longer than 6 inches anywhere on the windshield, and
no longer than 2 inches directly in sight of the driver.
Or something similar to that anyway...
