Glenn, I have often wondered the same thing. If it's 2 seconds, however,
there is the distinct possibility that you are doing one of two things:
1. Not pushing the car enough. By that I mean that you aren't full on the
gas as early as possible, and threshold braking as late as possible. And,
slowing down too much for the turns.
2. Overdriving. Some drivers overdrive their car by trying to take turns too
fast and having a problem with either push or oversteer. Steering, braking
and throttle inputs may need to be a little less aggresive.
I've heard it said that two very common mistakes are taking the slow turns
too fast, and taking the fast turns too slow.
Here's another basic: Unwind the steering wheel as early as you can. We pay
a lot of money for horsepower. But all that horsepower is going to waste if
the front wheels are turned while you are on the gas.
And, of course, always look ahead.
