Just some minor corrections on Darren's otherwise great instructions:

On the top edge of the LCD display, there is a little indicator that
appears whenever the start or finish is being tripped.  You can figure
out which light is misaligned by looking for which one is on constantly.

Also, you actually hear different beeps for start and finish trips. 
Start is a single "beep", finish is a quick double "beep-beep".

Actually, although there are only 4 displays (and Darren correctly
identified their purpose), the clocks can handle up to **8** cars on
course at a time.  Their clocks aren't all displayed, but it will work
fine.
