Clear skies and endless, southern sunshine all day long today; good thing for
the steady breeze or we'd have all ended up crispier than overcooked bacon.
Sunday is suppose to be more of the same. The Mid-Georgia & Atlanta Regions
wowed everyone with excellent organization and another outstanding catered
lunch from the Cowboy Cuisine.

When late registration closed today our final count was 130 registered SEDiv
Solo2 competitors and 12 teams for the Evolution - Kumho Tire Team Challenge
competition. Most drivers clipped off class competition times somewhere
between the upper-60 to mid-70 second range on the challenging asphalt course
designed by Atlanta Region's Rich Shafer. Clint McMahan set the Saturday FTD
with a 62.966 in F Mod. Team Challenge payouts from Evolution - Kumho for
the twelve teams are almost staggering, every 4-driver team wins cash back:

1st - $600
2nd - $500
3rd - $400
4th - $340
5th - $320
6th - $280
7th - $240
8th - $200
9th - $160 (team entry fee break-even point)
10th - $140
11th - $120
12th - $100

Several drivers took advantage of being allowed to participate on up to two
teams for increasing their odds at winning cold, hard cash. The top five
Team Challenge teams following Saturday's competition are (combined-team PAX
times shown):

1st - Ken Rupp, Tom Crowley, Chris Moore, Rob Heiser; 228.049
2nd - Tom Kotzian, Rick & Carol Cone, Steve Hoelscher; 228.427
3rd - Ken Rupp, J. Brett Howell, Betsy Bryan-Tinsley, Tony Schultz; 229.791
4th - Tom Pulliam, Steve Waters, Tony Schulz, Betsy-Bryan Tinsley; 233.309
5th - Amanda & Al Aberson, J. Brett Howell, Clint McMahan; 234.266

The Edwards & Edwards Consulting SEDiv Solo2 Rookie Challenge is another
great battle. From a class of 44 (wow!) registered SEDiv Solo2 rookies, the
top five Rookie Challenge leaders following Saturday's competition are (PAX
times shown):

1. Scott Minehart, FJr2 (12+); 56.641
2. Tony Schultz, STS; 57.751
3. Mark Berg, SS; 57.762
4. Tom Crowley, STS; 57.914
5. James Lynn, FJr2 (12+); 58.566

Of course this is just the first day of competition; anything goes on Sunday.
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of this very unique divisional event.
