I've been off line for a few days, so I missed the later reactions to my post.
I drafted it as a tongue in cheek response to an earlier post that waxed
rhapsodically about why the SCCA and the Nationals should move to Atlanta, and
said the reason was racing's popularity in the South. The South may be the
center of a certain spectator oriented portion of our sport, but autocrossing
(and the SCCA) is not about watching, its about participating.
My real point is that the major national amateur championship events should be
moved around to give more people the chance to particpate. Sure, have it in
Atlanta one year- but then, have it in Denver or someplace west. This would
undoubtedly be more work to coordinate, but that's why the SCCA has a national
staff, isn't it?
That said, and in the interests of fairness and continuing irony, let me
present.....

5) Can be arrested and jailed for running over an endangered species of rat.
4) It can take as long to get from San Diego to LA (Los Angeles) as from San
Diego to LA (Louisiana)

in yours, thinks loud=fast, and has lowered his jeans more than he has lowered
his car.
1) The peer pressure to turn off your cell phone while racing is enormous!

5) Pregrid is easier- you don't have to check for a blizzard bag as well as a
helmet, belts, and shoes.
4) You can leave your radio antenna up while racing- the lightning rod effect
is not a concern.
3) Race packing list does not include a snow shovel.
2) There are actually canyons to canyon carve in. Try to find one in Kansas.
1) No need to continue looking for a gortex/nomex blend for your driving suit.
