>>I know a great Peruvian restaurant

>>Carnitas and a margarita.

That's what I wanted to hear! More info please. Thanks,

How long are you in town?

Here is a tip. Qualcomm Stadium is on Friars Road. Take Friars Road east
about 2 miles past Zion Avenue. On the left side, overlooking a golf course,
is a restaurant called Eva's Cantina. I normally order the Carnitas with a
Corona or Negro Modello to wash it down. Order a side of extra homemade
flour tortillas. There is enough food there for 2 people with some left
over.

If you are in town before or after, I will take you to my Peruvian place.
They have this most excellent chile/cheese covered marinated steak. This
beer, Cusquena Dark, is the nectar of the Gods. The place is called Ana
Maria's Peruvian and it's east of the stadium also, about 7 miles.

Authentic Central Mexican? Palenques in Pacific Beach. Good tourist Mexican?
El Guadalajaras in Old Town, or the Old Town Mexican Cafe. More touristy?
Casa de Bandini or Casa de Pico in Old Town.

Best Calzone and beer? BJ's Bar and Grill. Home of the Pizzookie, the
Pizza-Cookie, where they bake a cookie on a pizza pan, then while stil melty
hot, serve it to you covered with Haagen Daz. Finer Italian food? La
Tratorria Aqua in La Jolla.

Seafood? Anthonys; Brigantyne; Fish Market; Crab Catcher.

Nightlife with dinner? Gaslamp downtown. A ton of restaurants and clubs. The
happening spot.

Also downtown;
Rogers'-On-Fifth; upscale gourmet of all types.
Croces'; Either fine dining or a bar next door. Owned by Ingrid Croce,
wife of Jim Croce, the singer.
Old Columbia Brewery; Good burgers, fries, rings, salads etc. and a
BUNCH
of microbrews that are brewed on site that are very good. GOOD
beers
                depending on what you like.
Dicks' Last Resort; noisy bar/eatery, but good food and stuff.

In La Jolla, 10 miles north of the airport. "Georges at the Cove". Go
upstairs
to the bar or to the upper patio and you can eat while looking out over
La
Jolla
Cove to the Pacific horizon. Awesome Smoked-chicken-black-bean soup.

Want a scenic drive? Go about 30 miles east on Hwy 8 (you can see 8 from
Qualcomm)
turn North on Hwy 79 and follow the signs to Julian (about another 30 miles
or so).
Check weather reports, there might be snow up there and the CHP may be
requiring chains.
Good place for breakfast. Good apple pie just about anywhere in the town.
Nice rustic
mountain town. Hardware store with good "guy stuff". Several decent family
style
restraunts for lunch or dinner.

On your way east on 8, you'll pass the Viejas Indian Casino if you feel like
losing
a few quarters or maybe something bigger.

Of course, after all this, make sure you take the extra papers out of your
glove box, you would not want too much weight in the car. :)
