This year's Allied vs Axis event was the epitomy of what every autox should
be. Due to the majority of entrants pre-registering on the internet everyone
sailed through registration. The event started on time (much to my chagrin
since I was late as usual and ran in the 1st group), the weather was perfect,
and grid was fantastically organized, as was the rest of the event
operations. All the run groups progressed quickly and smoothly on a very
well designed, simple, yet challenging course that equalized the variety of
competition vehicles.

Except perhaps non-ABS vehicles as braking traction was somewhat limited and
those that tried to sqeak it out 1" too far ended up with a square-sided tire
or two, while the ABS crowd just plowed through walls of cones during their
luxury tour of the scenic line. Amazingly, after the the event was completed
competitors were actually fighting each other to see who could pick up the
most cones during course clean-up; that had to be a record for the fastest
cleanup ever! Another rare occasion was that trophy presentations were the
highlight of the event, with lots of outspoken participation from the often
jovial & boisterous peanut gallery. A special thanks to the local Boy Scout
Troop that provided plenty of tasty yum-yums and drinks, at least until the
ravenous gut-gulpers cleaned them out before the end of the last heat.

However, despite how well everything else went there was one shining moment
of glory for which every autocross should try to copy:

We all had FUN! Thank you Dixie Region.
