This sounds interesting to me, although I am fairly new to this sport. I
know everyone keeps telling me my 98 Grand Prix GTP with a slightly smaller
supercharger pulley properly belongs in E Modified. Fine, I compete (or
should I say "play") in E Modified. I mainly go to beat my brother since I
have no hope of beating the other cars running in E Modified. Another club
member with a GTP has probably poured over $4k more into his car to be more
competitive in E Mod and is a good driver, but still gets beat by 5-8
seconds on average. I must admit the classification has been frustrating
and if my brother wasn't involved too I probably wouldn't have joined once I
saw the cars I had to compete against in E Mod. Most of my friends in the
Grand Prix club (all across the US) seem interested in autocrossing, but
they all say the same thing; "my pulley mod puts me in E Mod and it would be
no fun to lose THAT BAD all the time"). Hence, they don't even try it and
just head to the nearest 1/4 mile.

Should something like this be implemented though, I think I would be out in
the cold again because the supercharged GTP is a 3.8l. Plus, my car
weights 3500lbs. The GT's would fit in the 4.01 naturally aspirated
category though. Maybe get a few more to participate that way.

Don't get me wrong or send me emails saying sounds like I want my own class
or something. I'm content to play in the class I've been assigned. Should
I get real serious about this it would be time to look for another, more
competitive car to autocross with I suppose. Just seems like some cars
should be reclassified or something to increase the competition and
encourage others with that type of car to join and compete. It makes no
sense to me that my brother's non-VR4 3000GT (with just a cone filter mod)
has to go to ASP and compete against Vipers and VR4's, etc.
