My take on that, Steve, would be that the clutch disk could be
replaced with any material that is of the same type and size as the
standard disk and is used in the same location.  That is, if it had a
Carbon Metallic face instead of an asbestos face, it SHOULD be OK. 
However, I would think that the pressure plate would fall into the
same category as the flywheel...stock all the way.  And no
modifications could be made to the pressure plate or flywheel to
accommodate the disk.  But that's just my opinion.  Others may (and
probably will!) differ!!!  8<{)
