Imps are great. They used an all-alloy Coventry Climax racing engine (MAE?)
design with OHC and bucket tappets, more advanced than the current BMW Mini
engine for example. The same engine design also bizarrely used on fire
engine portable water pumps in the UK. The engine hung out the back, but,
unlike their contemporaries they eschewed swing axles and used semi-trailing
arms like Porsche 911. The front axles were swing-arms, though. They could
be made to handle very well. Beware the early pneumatic throttle linkage,
but I doubt any have survived.

Have fun!
