I used the same sheaths for my letter, and just used them for hold the 
letters on.

I guess you could use them in the holes first, but you'd have to drill out 
larger hole. I would not recomment that, as you'll then be inviting rust.

You need either the sheaths or the clips on the inside of the trunk, not 
both.
