Penrite http://www.penrite.co.uk/ has a non additive 30wt gear oil that
they recommend for Laycock overdrives, and is also the right weight for the
Alpine transmission.

http://www.classicautolubes.com is the US distributor, and the owner, Jon
is very helpful in getting you the right stuff. He also carries a bunch of
other Penrite products like the correct dashpot oil for Strombergs, and
SUs. Tell him I sent you!

What am I going to use for the Ferrari? I'm going with 80-90 in the
transmission, and 30wt in the overdrive. I learned that although the
overdrive was a licenced product of Laycock DeNormanville, it was
manufactured by an Italian company that had modified the overdrive to have
a separate resevoir for the overdrive.

>What was the final concensus on the correct grade and type of oil for an
Alpine with OD? I have heard Alpine owners swear by non-detergent 30wt
and others swear by 75w90 GL-4. Which is the best for long term usage
and safe for the synchros? Thanks Brent<
