I replaced by cross tube with a new one from Rick about 7 years ago.  The
rubber on it fell apart this last year.  I know other people have had this
problem and there was some speculation that the rubber in the NOS cross
tube had weakened over the years of storage and just wasn't up to snuff.  I
have since replaced the rubber with new rubber bushings I purchased from
Rick at SS.  A little soapy water on the bushing and it pressed in very
easily with my bench vise.  A little soapy water on the posts and they also
pressed in easily.  My car handles much better now and for road use, I
don't think that hard bushings would add much.  For racing, maybe there
would be a benefit.

Jay,
I have purchased the new rubber bushings from SS.  I have all my parts
powder
coated and ready to install if I ever get a body to put them on.
I would be interested in anything you find out as I would like something a
little more stable.  The rubber from SS seems a little big for the hole.  I

have not tried to force it yet but it seems like it will be very tough to
get
in.
