I had some work done on my Peugeot today by the Pug specialist I use. He
shares some space with a Rolls-Royce specialist, and when I dropped my car
off this morning noticed a 1920s tourer in the back of the shed. I didn't
look all that hard because I guessed it was just a Rolls.

When I went to pick the car up I strolled over for a look. Imagine my
surprise on realising it was a Sunbeam!

It was a gorgeous one too. The bodywork was partially dismantled so that the
huge six cylinder engine and gearbox were all on display. Beautiful
workmanship - down to having the original (pre-lion/talbothound/creature)
Sunbeam logo cast into all the major bits.

They had been putting it back together and I just happened to arrive in time
for the big test - starting it. One press of the starter and it went first
go. I couldn't believe how smooth it sounded.

I've desparately wanted a big 1920s Sunbeam for years, so my eyes stuck out
on stalks when they told me it's for sale. Don't suppose any of you want to
lend me the A$80000 asking price?! I'm going to buy a lottery ticket in the
morning, just in case.

Lucky I don't have any kids. They'd be up for sale by now! ;-)
