There you are you old Six Pack!!As shared with Triumphs list: ?I thought I =

Had a couple ideas working. ?One was go to NAPA and get the oil. ?I did wit=

pump that would pump it upthrough the drain hole. ?I found a hose to which =
I wrapped the right amount of tape so this tubewent into the hole without l=

Hey John,

It's not the correct fix of course, but why don't you try my trick of shimm=
ing out the slave cylinder with two stacks of washers. You need about a hal=
f inch of shim, shouldn't need longer bolts but maybe. I'm telling you it w=
orked for me for years, until I had the internal fork issue fixed. As I sai=
d before (not trying to be a know-it-all) but there's no way this symptom i=
s related to the oil level. The oil doesn't get up to the clutch plate. You=
can't get it into gear because it's spinning, not because it's low on oil.

Now, I didn't have a broken fork pin, so the shims may not help, but worth =
a try. You're going to have to get the tranny pulled to replace that fork p=
in.=C2=A0 I'm not certain, but I believe working once, and then back to the=
same problem, is a big indication of the fork pin being sheared. It slips =
back around to the correct spot and works once, and then it's out of alignm=
ent again and doesn't work at all.

The biggest advice I can give you is this. Fix the Maxima! A Triumph doesn'=
t like being counted on as primary transportation. They can tell. Ever wond=
er why everybody you meet at a gas-station 'used' to have one?

good luck,

Sloane :)

Understood - and good to know. But just curious. Will it shift OK sometimes=
, and then refuse to go into gear as this symptom sounds to be?

>
It's not the correct fix of course, but why don't you try my trick of =
shimming out the slave cylinder with two stacks of washers. You need about =
a half inch of shim, shouldn't need longer bolts but maybe. I'm telling you=
it worked for me for years, until I had the internal fork issue fixed. As =
I said before (not trying to be a know-it-all) but there's no way this symp=
tom is related to the oil level. The oil doesn't get up to the clutch plate=
. You can't get it into gear because it's spinning, not because it's low on=
oil.

Now, I didn't have a broken fork pin, so the shims ma=
y not help, but worth a try. You're going to have to get the tranny pulled =
to replace that fork pin. I'm not certain, but I believe working once=
, and then back to the same problem, is a big indication of the fork pin be=
ing sheared. It slips back around to the correct spot and works once, and t=
hen it's out of alignment again and doesn't work at all.

Th=
e biggest advice I can give you is this. Fix the Maxima! A Triumph doesn't =
like being counted on as primary transportation. They can tell. Ever wonder=
why everybody you meet at a gas-station 'used' to have one?

<br=
