Oliver---Feel the inlet heater hose close to where it leaves the shutoff valve,
to be sure that the valve is working as it should. Do this check with the
engine up to operating temp, and with the hood up long enough to rid the hose
of underhood heat sink. If still in doubt, pinch off this hose with a pair of
long nose ViseGrips.
Nor should there be enough radiant heat from the tranny to be felt thru the
tranny cover.

Subject: [6pack] heat into passenger footwell
hi, all. i've got the valve turned off at the engine, but heat still comes
into the passenger footwell. if you take a notebook and place it up against
the tunnel/kidney area, it comes out quite hot.
any thoughts on how to stop this? the tranny tunnel is insulated; it seems
like its coming from above the tunnel. is there some kind of heating system
there that maybe is out of whack?
