Robert,
Had the same problem and (fingers crossed) think I got it fixed today. It was
all trial and error since the lever set at the alignment hole in 4th would not
engage the OD. I had it up on stands in fourth and, with the solenoid clamp
lever loosened, determined how far I needed to push the lever past the hole to
get it to engage. Several times I pushed too far, tightened the clamp, and the
OD would not disingage - not a good thing on an "A" type since you can destroy
the OD in reverse.
Finally after several tries, I was able to determine where it would barely
engage and tightened the clamp. You have to be an octopus with several arms to
make sure that, you are holding the lever in the correct position, the clamp
is pryed into the up position on the solenoid, and tightening the clamp. Like
I said, it was trial and error if you are working alone, and a pain in the ***
but I believe I finally got it. I'm going to run around this weekend and make
sure it is fixed. Would not particularly want to drive to the Trials without
it.
Good Luck,
Bruce
