Bruce---It's very unlikely that you'll find the pump tolerances
suddenly so far out of spec as to cause no oil to be pumped. Finding
the "buildup of silicone shavings on the filter screen" does hold
promise, tho.

Most oversized bearing shells are stamped on their O.D. with the amount
of being out of std. (+.010 +.020 etc.

Dick/Marion,
Prior to getting your emails, got impatient with my self and tried to
prime the pump with the dizzy drive gear in. Did not get any oil
pressure when turning with a drill so I dropped the oil pan and pulled
the pump. Tomorrow plan to measure tolerances on the pump and decide if
I will replace the pump or bolt back in and prime it ( I understand that
the TR6 pump has a higher capacity for pumping oil). I did notice

that there was a buildup of silicone sealer shavings in the filter
screen but did not find any

other debris in the filter or the sump. Now that I have the oilpan off,
am beginning to get the inevitable Triumph shiprights disease and go
thru the lower bearings as well - they seem to have excessive front to
back play. Are the bearings marked as to size (std vs oversize)? I
appreciate everone's input since this is a first for me.
Thanks,
