That test only works so far. My J-type is wired for OD in 2nd for example.

Assuming that the transmission is working properly the easiest way to
determine which type of OD you have is to take the car out for a drive, put it
in second gear and switch the OD on. If you get another gear you have an A
type OD. If you don't you have a J type OD. Works for me, says the guy with
the A type OD.
