I have a question about original oil filters. I recentally had an order
coming from TRF, and since the box was already heading my way, I threw an
oil filter in the order. I have ordered them from TRF many times over the
past years and have also had good results with NAPA #1313. This time what
came from TRF was a Fram filter. Having read some oil filter research that
someone posted in the past, I have lumped Fram into the bottom catagory in
quality, and this filter is along that line. The end caps appear to be made
out of some sort of hard pressed cardboard, and the end holes are the same
on both sides, not smaller on one to insure proper alignment at the block.
There is also no gasket material on either side. It did come with a new ring
gasket.
Does anyone have any expeience with this filter? I think there has been
someone on list that had some inside connection with TRF Customer Service.
I'd appreciate any technical info or opinions. I'm seriously considering not
using this filter and heading to NAPA. I let my oil drain for days, so no
big hurry. :)
