        John:

No one has answered, so I will chime in.

UNIPART = The history of Unipart can be traced back to 1974 when
British Leyland appointed John Egan to be its director of the parts and
service division. Egan created a new organization, independent of the
main car company but as losses in BL grew the company was nationalized
in 1975 and the following year Egan departed to join Massey Ferguson.
This left one of Egan's disciples John Neill in charge at the age of
only 29. In the years that followed Neill began building up the business
and creating the Unipart brand. In the 1980s BL began to disintegrate
with Jaguar being floated off and other divisions sold off and in 1987
Neil led a management buyout of Unipart. Since the company was
privatized it has developed into a vast parts and accessories business
for the whole industry.

STANPART = The brand name of the manufacturing arm of Standard
motor car company, which acquired Triumph at the end of WWII. Standard
ceased production of it's own branded cars in 1963, but continued on as
the major parts supplier to Triumph (Which incidentally was rechristened
STANDARD-TRIUMPH after being acquired by Standard). Of course Triumph
was one of the brands eventually acquired by Leyland, and was
ultimately bankrupted along with Leyland when US legislation and
appreciation of the pound made it difficult to compete in the lucrative
US market.

That is my understanding, but take it with a grain of salt as I
have not researched this in depth.
