        Richard:

        Perhaps this goes without saying, but the stock muffler is a
serious detriment to power and economy, and should be one of the very
first things to do. In terms of bang for the buck, exhaust work is
always near the top, and on our beloved Sixes, it has to be number 1.
        I was shocked when I looked into the stock muffler and saw the
itsy-bitsy holes that the engine exhales through. Not even remotely
approximating a performance item. I have concluded that the dual tail
pipe is a performance advantage not because you have any more area in
the pipes to flow gases, but because it doubles the number of holes
inside the muffler for the exhaust to flow through. Two times nothing is
still nothing, however.
        Unfortunately, I cannot provide guidance on the exhaust system
to be preferred, as I don't have any data on systems like Monza,
Pacesetter, Ansa, etc. All I can do is point people to aftermarket
mufflers detailed by my hero, David Vizard. Cyclone Sonic Turbo, Dynomax
Turbo, and Walker Supreme mufflers. All of these would require custom
installations, and they are not available from the big 3. =:-(
        A custom exhaust will *NOT* get you the "gee whiz" effect of
triple Zeniths though. I agree that alone makes them worth the money.
=:-o

        Food for thought,

        Vance

Joe, I don't have any idea how my car preformed before the mods and
haven't
driven a stock TR6 to compare to. So don't guess I can offer any real
answers to your questions, just my opinions.

<snip>

Personally I think the cam, 9.5:1 compression and the turning of the
22lbs
flywheel to 16 lbs are the best things to do.

Last on my list would be the triples and a header-My opinion that when
making it possible to suck more air, you need to make it possible to
shoot
it out the tail pipe too. If being restricted by the tail pipe then it
just
ain't gonna suck in more air and do that much good.

<snip>

Don't forget the perceived performance gains when popping the bonnet as
that's important too!!! Triples perform best on the Signal Red TR6's.
