Peter,

The length of time the battery will hold your memory is a dictated
directly by the amount of load that memory puts on the battery. I
suspect it would probably last a month or so, but your results may vary.

Hooking up the main battery without some sort of isolation on the 9volt
will result in at least a real nasty mess to clean up, or perhaps a real
loud bang and a nasty mess

Steve

Ed,

I understand this completely. What my questions were intended to
elucidate
was: 1) how long will a 9-volt cell keep the radio supplied with power
(my
car sometimes sits for weeks) and 2) when you hook-up the car battery,
does
the 12 volts flowing into the 9-volt battery have any negative
ramifications
(eg the 9 volt battery exploding).

Thanks,
Peter
