Skip,
I have GEICO. My daily driver was parked in a parking lot (ki was at dinner)
and got hit-and-run. GEICO covered the repairs from my UMI, NOT collision,
and didn't even require a police report. Call again and ask for a supervisor.
Also, read your policy to be sure what is covered.

Thanks for the tip, however this is apparently not the case for me. I
called my insurance company (GEICO). The nice person at the other end of
the line put me on hold for a moment, then came back and told me my
uninsured motorists' coverage only covered bodily injury, not collision.
I'll try them again. Maybe a different operator will come back with a
different answer.
