Michelin redlines

When I had the original redlines on my car, I thought they were OK on
pleasant country roads at moderate speeds. But they had pretty minimal
braking ability - wet or dry - and I lived in fear that I'd hit a patch of
gravel on a cruve.

If you drive in remotely spirited fashion, I'd stay away from the redlines.
I have replaced the old redlines with some new, VERY cheap conventional
tires (ie around $45 each, mounted and balanced), and even they turn and
stop much better than the redlines.

Listers, putting the authenticity issue aside for a moment, how much worse
do Michelin X Redline tires perform than more modern technology? Are they so
horrendous that I will want to change right back?
